Holiday Season Is Alive And Well In Allen, Texas

ImageAllen, Texas will be offering many different events and opportunities to celebrate the holiday season in December. One of the more popular traditions is the annual Grand Lighting of the 35-foot Christmas tree at Allen Civic Plaza on Friday, December 6.

On the following day, December 7, the annual Rudolph Run will take place as participants of all ages will walk or run through downtown Allen. Even if you choose to just be a spectator, this event promises to be a great time for the entire family and is open to all ages and skill levels.

On the same day, the Joe Farmer Recreation Center provides a unique holiday shopping opportunity as they present their Holiday Arts and Crafts Fair. You are sure to find unique crafts and gifts that you won’t find anywhere else.

If you would like for the kids to enjoy activiies with Santa, then how about a hayride with Santa or taking a swim with the Big Guy? On Friday, December 13, hayrides with Santa will depart Joe Farmer Recreation Center while the following Friday, December 20, the Don Rodenbaugh Natatorium hosts Santa.

Great holiday concerts and parties are also part of the month of holiday festivities. The Edge @ Allen Station Park has planned their Holiday Bash for Saturday, December 14 and the Allen Senior Recreation Center hosts a New Year’s Eve brunch during the mid-day on Tuesday, December 31.

Allen Event Center gets in the action by presenting the Brian Setzer Orchestra on Sunday, December 15. Bringing his famed 18-piece orchestra to North Texas for the Christmas Rocks 10th Anniversary Tour, Mr. Setzer is a unique talent with a career spanning more tha 30 years as founder / leader of the Stray Cats, frontman for the Brian Setzer Orchestra and as a solo artist.

Allen Community Ice Rink will be busy with a holiday ice show scheduled for Sunday, December 8. The arena will also present a Pirate and Princess Adventure on December 29 and 30 courtesy of Disney Live. The next night the Allen Americans will offer a special New Year’s Eve hockey game.

Other activities will include a gingerbread house making on December 4 at Joe Farmer Recreation Center and cookie decorating on December 10 as part of Family Night at Allen Senior Recreation Center.
